Erin the Musician.

As many of you may know, 21 year old Erin Bates is quite the talented pianist! She began piano lessons at the age of 7, and she is now a distinguished musician who highly enjoys the piano. Erin has been attending Crown College of the Bible for the last 3 years to get a degree in Music Ministry, and she's only 1 a short year away from that goal. She has even been giving some of her younger siblings piano lessons over the past few years!

A few years ago, in 2010, Erin released her first CD of piano music, entitled Merciful and Mighty. It can be purchased here. Since then, she has been working earnestly, and her work has paid off--just this month, she released her second CD, Down Home Gospel! Erin's newest CD features "upbeat, hand clapping & foot stomping, Southern Gospel appeal".

Here Erin talking about her new CD and her music career in the video below:

Erin's latest CD can be purchased through the Bates family website, at this link. You can also hear some samples of Erin's beautiful music on the page!

What do you think of Erin's music? Do you plan or purchasing her CD's?

  1. I just listened to samples of your music. "Merciful and Mighty" is such a beautiful CD! I saw that it's available in MP3 format! I probably won't purchase the "Down Home Gospel!" CD, simply because it assimilates a saloon sound. That's not criticism of your performance skills, but just a conviction of mine and also honest customer feedback which I know you would appreciate as you plan future albums. Also, I thought I would share a thought about my own approach to music. I have given away my Biblical music for free as an offering to the LORD. In other words, Abraham gave a tithe of more than just money. The Bible seems to indicate that we are to share of a tenth of everything. In this way, have you ever thought of making nine secular albums (i.e. classical, Celtic Irish, bluegrass, Jewish folk, etc) and then making the tenth album a free album that you give away to your customers based upon the information they have given you (i.e. address)? What a great way to influence people for Jesus Christ, eh? Fanny Crosby had a similar method in writing many, many poems for secular purposes, but then she would also write her hymns. She wrote more hymns than probably anyone else in history. Just a thought. :)

    1. How unfair and stupid of you to be giving Biblical and financial advice to this Godly young woman. First of all, this is her career so she is supporting herself with her talent. If you know the family, you know that she gives free lessons to those who can't afford it and buys supplies for them. No doubt she also gives a lot from her CD earnings. She is an amazing young lady who doesn't do anything without prayer and doesn't need a know it all telling her what to do with her earnings, give me a break!

  2. Erin
I absolutely love your music and have watched every video you have done!! Thank you for being such an example to me as I also play the piano. Your style is just what I like and such an encouragement as not many other pianists have good solid Christ- honoring music like you do.
Thank you for being an amazing role model and sister in the faith!!
    Psalm 100:1-2
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

  3. I have the first CD. I loved each song, and found the songs distinctly familiar to each other in style. You have been given a true gift, and I'd love to see you branch out in other genres of music. Do you see yourself writing original music, or, someday hooking up with larger groups and traveling? Perhaps including your district style with others? I think that would be lots of fun. Hang in there love, for no matter what musical path you take, there will be much joy.

  4. I forgot to add…Not to be of a mean spirit, but no, will not purchase the new CD, after hearing a sample . The style is too much like the first one, similar to those who play the same type of guitar rifts, if you will. There's always the same piano style of going up and down the piano after making the spiritual statement, and it does take away from the spirit that has just become part of the song.
